Storyline

Set against the sweeping backdrop of the Hundred Years' War between France and England, the story casts the player as an aspiring mercenary leader who fights for whichever side best serves their interests. The tale opens with two anonymous sellswords trading blows amid a clash between French and English forces, musing on the fickle nature of mercenaries and the absence of any true right or wrong in war. Rather than follow a strict chronology, the campaign lets the player take part in famous battles across the long conflict, piecing the larger narrative together through conversations overheard in the tavern between engagements. A broad cast of historical and original figures drives the drama, most prominently Edward the Black Prince, who campaigns for England, and Joan of Arc, who later rises to fight for France.
