Storyline
High school student Kaede Akamatsu is kidnapped and awakens to find herself trapped within the sinister walls of the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, alongside fifteen other captive students, among them the reserved Shuichi Saihara. After a mysterious device restores their memories, each teenager recalls possessing an extraordinary "Ultimate" talent, with Kaede revealed as the Ultimate Pianist and Shuichi as the Ultimate Detective. Their confusion turns to dread when a menacing robotic bear named Monokuma appears and announces the cruel rules of a deadly killing game: the only way for any of them to escape the academy is to murder a fellow student and avoid being exposed as the culprit in a class trial. Refusing at first, the students soon find themselves pushed toward desperation as the trap tightens around them.
